De Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur ontstond op 1 januari 2023 door naamswijziging van Agentschap Telecom. Agentschap Telecom was in 2002 ontstaan uit de Rijksdienst voor Radiocommunicatie en houdt toezicht op spectrum, digitale weerbaarheid en post.

De Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur (RDI) is per 2023 de opvolger van Agentschap Telecom en houdt toezicht op digitale infrastructuur: frequentiebeheer, telecomnetwerken, radioapparatuur, cyberveiligheid van vitale aanbieders (onder de nieuwe Cyberbeveiligingswet/NIS2) en certificering van e-overheidstrustdiensten. De RDI veilt frequenties voor mobiele netwerken en spoort radiostoringen op. Het hoofdkantoor zit in Groningen en Amersfoort.
