Founded
2010
De Raad voor Accreditatie werd per 1 januari 2010 bij de Wet aanwijzing nationale accreditatie-instantie aangewezen als ZBO dat de Europese accreditatieverordening 765/2008 uitvoert. De stichting zelf bestaat sinds 1995 uit een fusie van de Raad voor Certificatie en de Nederlandse Kalibratie Organisatie.

De Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA) is de nationale accreditatie-instantie onder de Europese Accreditatieverordening (EG) 765/2008. De RvA beoordeelt en accrediteert laboratoria, inspectie-instellingen, certificerende instellingen en verificatie-instanties conform ISO/IEC-normen. Accreditatie is vaak een wettelijke voorwaarde voor taken zoals keuring van bouwproducten, medische laboratoria en voedselveiligheid.
